Ametrine

Ametrine – Gemzworld Crystals Encyclopedia

Ametrine – This is the research and findings of the mineral

Origin – the place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.

Ametrine is a crystal of primary formation which means it was formed from molten magma. This usually happens in cavities in volcanoes where the combination of chemistry and structural arrangements of mineral deposits, atoms and substances pass from gas or liquid into a solid-state or by means of going out of solution by precipitation or evaporation.

Ametrine is a silicate mineral of which the Quartz family is a part. In fact, Ametrine is one of the rarest types of quartz as it combines the beauty of two different crystals in one single crystal. Ametrine is a naturally occurring variety of quartz that contains a mixture of amethyst and citrine. Trace particles of iron can transform clear quartz into the purple of amethyst or the gold hue of citrine, and when colled down at two different rates, the two merge to form ametrine.

Ametrine is mined out of the veins in dolomitic limestone, and the main natural supply is mined in Bolivia. Some synthetic Ametrine is produced in Russia who use industrial production methods to produce ametrine colours. These are produced for the low priced segment of the crystal market.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Ametrine crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

History – the past considered whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or something, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.

Ancient myth tells the story of this interesting and unique crystal stone being introduced to Europe when the conquistadors, Felipe de Urriola y Goitia, received a dowry of a mine in Bolivia on marrying the princess Anahi from the native Ayoreos tribe. He then made gifts of the stone to the Spanish Queen Juana.

Today, most Ametrine is mined from the Eastern Bolivian mine of Anahi, which could be linked to the original Princess dowry of the story. There are also sources in India and Brazil.

Specification – the act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Ametrine is recognisable by its colours and appears with a lovely translucency. It isn’t easy to artificially produce. Tumbled

Ametrine appears in a fully natural form. It can appear in jewellery, gemstones, crystals and spheres, among others.

Varieties – a number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.

Ametrines are the combined beauty of citrine and amethyst. Synthetic ametrine is produced in Russia, but the natural stone has no immediate variants other than the wider Quartz family and the citrine and amethyst themselves.

Esoteric Attributes – a quality or feature as characteristic of or possed by something.

Crystals, by their very nature, can receive and focus energy in different ways. Their molecular structure enables them to be used to amplify and convert energy. Hence, crystals have been used for centuries to aid healing and transmute energy both in the metaphysical and physical world.

Because each crystal family has different formational backgrounds, each also has different vibrational frequencies that can be harnessed and used for specific purposes. Each, therefore, has specific qualities that can help a person heal on many different levels of their being.

The following is a list of healing attributes associated with Ametrine crystals.

Mental: Ametrine enables us to experience mental creativity and take great strides in creative thinking. Citrine brings enthusiasm, and amethyst brings sensibility, enabling us to make positive, mental choices with balance.

Emotional: Ametrine is a stone that inspires joyfulness and calm. It encourages our inner being to focus on the positive when outside influences intervene. It is a stone that encourages compatibility and healthy relationships.

Physical: Ametrine creates balance within the body by easing body tension and generating harmony in body metabolism and the vegetative nervous system.

Alexandrite

Alexandrite – Gemzworld Crystals Encyclopedia

Alexandrite – This is our research and findings on this mineral

Origin – The place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of existence, the point from which it starts, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.

Alexandrite is an extremely rare gemstone initially discovered in the Sanarka River in Russia’s southern Ural Mountains.

The chemical composition exhibits Chrysoberyl’s variants consisting of a chrysoberyl cats eye and transparent Chrysoberyl, yet has chromium as an impurity along with iron and titanium, which accounts for its distinctive ability to change colour. Only this type of Chrysoberyl that can display these colour changes is Alexandrite.

Alexandrite is a strongly pleochroic | trichroic gem that changes colour about the light source. In daylight, they can be green (Russian) before switching to red in incandescent light.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are seven systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Alexandrite crystals belong to the orthorhombic system.

History – the past considered whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or something, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.

Alexandrite has a recently modern history, documented as being discovered in Russia’s Ural Mountains as late as the 1830s.

The gem is said to have been named after the Russian Tzar Alexander. As it displays the red and green colours symbolic of Imperial Russia’s old stains, it became the national stone of Tzarist Russia.

Top-quality mined Alexandrite was extremely rare and, as the Russian mines depleted, was extremely scarce. A similar hue was found later in Brazilian mines in the 1980s yet were not as great as the quality of colour that the Russian gems possessed.

Jewellers highly seek the stone of a quality comparable to the Russian one due to its aesthetic value and rarity. Specialist dealers mainly supply it.

Specification – the act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Alexandrite has a good hardness of 8.5 on the MOH’s scale and is valued in relation to the more significant distinction of colour change from green to red. Some of the less valued Alexandrite’s change from green to a brownish colour instead.

The crystals feature cyclic twins called trillings which have a hexagonal appearance however are featured due to the formation of a triplet of twins at distinctive angles.

Natural Alexandrite gems are rarely found in jewellery due to their value and scarcity; however, synthetic lab-formed types are available on a more common basis.

Varieties – A number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.

Alexandrite is a type of Chrysoberyl and so falls in with other Crysoberyl types, including:

  • Yellowish-Green Chrysoberyl
  • Cats Eye or Cymomphane

However, the only other variety of Alexandrite is created synthetically or simulated to replicate Alexandrite through corundum traced with elements like vanadium.

Esoteric Attributes: A quality or feature as characteristic of or possed by something.

Crystals, by their very nature, can receive and focus energy in different ways. Their molecular structure enables them to be used to amplify and convert energy. Hence, crystals have been used for centuries to aid healing and transmute energy both in the metaphysical and physical world.

The following is a list of healing attributes associated with Alexandrite crystals.

Mental: Alexandrite is said to strengthen willpower and inspiration. It promotes imaginative powers igniting confidence in risk-taking and a more excellent perception of the inner voice.

Emotional: Alexandrite intensifies and heightens dreams and heightens the perception of emotion.

Physical: The Alexandrite gem is known to stimulate the liver and aid physical inflammations. It is also an aid for nerve disorders and to strengthen the senses.

Emerald

Emerald – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Emerald is a crystal which is a variety of the Beryl mineral. It takes it vibrant green colour from the trace amounts of chromium and, at times, vanadium that infiltrate the mineral.

The majority of the beryls are formed in igneous rocks and related gneisses, mica schists and pegamite dikes. On other, less frequent, occasions the crystal can also be sourced from sedimentary rocks which includes limestone and shale.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Emerald crystals belong to the Hexagonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
The name Emerald is derived from the ancient Greek word, Smaragdus, meaning green. It is also given its name from the middle English, Emeraude, and the vulgar Latin, Esmeraldus. It was referred to by Pliny the Elder as ‘nothing greens greener’ in his Natural History documentation dating back to the first century AD.

Ancient legend dictates that the emerald was one of the four precious stones given to Solomon by God which bequeathed the ruler with the power over all creation. The gem was also associated with Cleopatra who used it in her Royal costume. The first heralded emerald mines were said to be found in Egypt dating from around 300 BC.

The Incas used the stone in religious events and jewellery yet it wasn’t until the Spanish invaded the New World in 16th Century exploration that the gem found itself as a trade commodity and became prevalant in Europe and Asia.

As well as Egypt, early deposits were also mined in Austria and India from the 14th Century. Present day significant deposits are mined extensively in Columbia.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Distinctive by their vibrant green hue, the emerald forms as a massive or crystalline habit with a dihexagonal dipyaramidal crystal symmetry. They are transparent to opaque however a high end gem would have to be transparent with a pure green hue to be classified accordingly.

The stone has a vitreous lustre and an conchoidal fracture and is relative to beryl in hardness, showing a Mohs scale rating of 7.5 -8.

Emeralds are used extensively for high end jewellery and adornment.

Epidote

                      45480de3 epidote-cab

Origin

Epidote was named by Rene Hauy, a mineralogist at the University of Natural History in Paris in the early 1800’s. The name is from the Greek word “epidosis” which means “addition” referring to Hauy’s observation that some of the minerals prism faces are longer than others.

Epidote is one of the most outstanding display minerals. The most desirable form is in delicate elongated crystals which are interconnected and lustrous. It is found in horndels and skarns in contact metamorphic rocks, in metamorphosed limestone and in schist’s. It can also be found in igneous rocks in basalt and diabase. It has a complex crystal structure of isolated and paired silica tetrahedrons. It occurs as monoclinic crystals in pegmatites or long slender prismatic crystals in thick tabular crystals. They sometimes appear with etchings or growth layers and contain smaller later growth crystals. They are also found in massive form and as monoclinic crystals in marbles and schist’s that were formed or altered through contact metamorphism It is also sometimes found with amphiboles, feldspars, quartz and chlorite It is an abundant rock forming mineral.

Rocks composed of quartz and epidotes are known as epidosite. Epidote is often associated with allanite and piemonite. It is almost identical in composition to Clinozoisite.

It is usually found as a yellowish green pistachio colour. Sometimes it occurs in a brownish green black colour. In massive form it is translucent with a vitreous lustre.

Epidote can be found in Austria, Switzerland, France, Finland, Norway, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Kenya, Madagascar, Australia, Japan, Korea, China, Mexico and the United States.

Physical

Epidote helps increase energy and motivates strengthening of the physical body. It facilitates an assimilation of nutrients. It stimulates the immune system and aids in the healing process. It helps fortify the liver, gallbladder and digestive system; it regenerates after over exertion or illness. It increases personal power and memory retention.

Emotional

“The Awareness Shield Stone”

Epidote is an attraction stone meaning it will bring you more of what you emanate.  It can be programmed to bring one what they wish for. It works for both positive and negative energies so one must be aware of themselves and their emotions…”you reap what you sow”. It increases perception and interaction with spiritual beings. It promotes a simple, calming grounding, “back to earth” vibration.

Epidote alleviates depression, hopelessness and negative thinking patterns. It promotes a sense of optimism and revival. It helps realise ones ideas of happiness and fulfilment. It brings patience, dissipates anxiety, self-pity and grief. It helps stimulate abundance, prosperity, manifestation, self awareness, will power, mental clarity, memory and emotional healing.

Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Crysoprase is a nickel infiltrated variety of Chalcedony which is a cryptocrystalline form of silica. A cryptocrystalline crystal refers to the super fine composition of crystals that cannot be seen as distinct particles under normal magnification.

The crystal occurs due to the lateritization or deep weathering of ultramafic ophiolite rocks including nickeliferous serpentines. In some Australian formations, it can be found as nodules or veins with iron oxides, like brown geothite, below an iron and silica cap in the magnesite rich saprolite.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Chrysoprase crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
In ancient times the Chrysoprase stone was associated with the Goddess Venus and was a representation of the divinity of truth and love. It has been mentioned as far back as 2000 years ago when the Roman Scholar, Pliny, wrote about its ‘inner glow’

The stone has been popularly worn throughout the ages by the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. Popular stories tell of Cleopatra wearing Chrysoprase to keep her youth and Alexander the Great’s eleven year triumph being due to the fact he wore a Chrysoprase on his belt. In fact, when he lost it, it was said that he never won another battle and the crystal was reffered to as the victory stone.

The finest Chrysoprase is mined in Australia and other major deposits are found in Zimbabwe, India, Brazil, Russia among others.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

The clear, apple green type is the most sought however it can be found with irregular colours such as a white streak, and contain other fissures and impurities.

Chrysoprase is enhanced only through the cutting, tumbling and polishing process and is found widely in jewellery.

Varietiesa number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.
There are no significant varieties of Chrysoprase however it can be compared to Chrome Chalcedony which contains chromium, rather than nickel, to produce it’s colour.
