Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Cinnabar is a Sulfide mineral that is a common ore of mercury. It generally occurs in vein fills associated with recent volcanic activity and alkaline hot springs.

The stone is deposited by aqueous solutions of epithermal ascension that appear near the surface and are not red hot which can be far removed from their igneous rock source.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Cinnabar crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Cinnabar was used in ancient South America as a pigment for art. It was also processed into a fine mercury for gilding objects. It was known for its toxicity to humans and the mining of the stone was seen as a death sentence to the ancient Romans.

The stone has been widely used for its colour. The Olmec culture used it extensively and it was found in the royal burial chambers during the Mayan Civilisation where in Palenque, the tomb of the Red Queen was found with her remains and associated objects covered with the bright red powder from Cinnabar.

In China, the Song Dynasty employed Cinnabar in carved lacquerware where it was made less toxic through entraining the powdered pigment. Modern times saw the jewellery industry use a resin based polymer as a substitute for the toxicity.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Cinnabar is found sometimes in crystals with a non-metallic, adamantine luster but it mainly appears as large granules or earth form deposits.

The crystals are sometimes twinned and appear with distinctive spikes with six ridges around the point of a pyramid. It has an uneven to sub-conchoidal fracture and is very soft with a Mohs Scale rating of 2-2.5.

The Cinnabar crystal is used mainly for decorative purposes due to its striking scarlet and red colours.
