Angelite

Angelite – Gemzworld Crystals Encyclopedia

Angelite – This is our research and findings on this magical mineral.

Origin – the place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.

Angelite is a Sulfates mineral of soft blue Anhydrite. Sulfides have a sulfur atom surrounded by four oxygen atoms that form a square. Aside from Gypsum and Baryte, which are the main Sulfide types, the rest are increasingly rare, including Anhydrite.

When Gypsum loses water, it turns into Anhydrite, usually found in salt deposits formed in blocks, of course, crystalline. Anhydrite is normally found as a colourless brown crystal. The pale blue version is rarer and is known as Angelite.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Angelite crystals belong to the Orthohombic system.

History – the past considered whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or something, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.

The known history of Anhydrite is recent in times as the name was given by A.G. Werner in 1804 due to the absence of water of crystallization compared to its presence in Gypsum.

Angelite was first documented during the globally synchronised meditation event named the Harmonic Conversion in 1987.

Specification – the act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Angelite is only enhanced through cutting, tumbling and polishing. It is of a soft blue | white in colour, and the true versions are only believed to be found in Peru, encapsulating a deeper blue colour.

Varieties – a number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.

Angelite is formed from Sulfates, of which there are around 200 types, including Gypsum and Baryte.

A rare variety is Anhydrite, of which the pale blue version is known as Angelite.

Esoteric Attributes – a quality or feature as characteristic of or possed by something.

Crystals, by their very nature, can receive and focus energy in different ways. Their molecular structure enables them to be used to amplify and convert energy. Hence, crystals have been used for centuries to aid healing and transmute energy both in the metaphysical and physical world.

Because each crystal family has different formational backgrounds, each also has different vibrational frequencies that can be harnessed and used for specific purposes. Each, therefore, has specific qualities that can help a person heal on many different levels of their being.

The following is a list of healing attributes associated with Angelite crystals.

Mental: Angelite helps to end brooding and give calmness to thought whilst dissipating obsessions. It is helpful in group communication and aids lucidity in dream interpretation.

Emotional: Angelite is an aid to overcoming insecurity, and it helps to withstand the psychic strain. It strengthens the ability to overcome confusion and pain when caused by cruelty.

Physical: Angelite aids in the stimulation of kidney function and water balance. It assists in the reduction of oedema.

Pyrite

Pyrite (Cubes) – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Pyrite is a mineral that is also known as ‘Fools Gold’. It is a common sulfide mineral incorporating iron that is formed along with other oxides and sulfides in quartz veins, metamorphic rock and sedimentary rock settlements. It can also be found as a replacement mineral in fossils and in coal beds.

Pyrite usually forms as a cubic shaped crystal and sometimes fuses closely to appear in a framboid shape. This shape is a distinguishing factor between Pyrite and Gold as Pyrite is smilar in colour however the shape differs in that gold has an irregular shape and Pyrite has a cubic formation. This is the reason for the term ‘Fools Gold’.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Pyrite cubic crystals belong to the Cubic system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
This sparky mineral’s name derived from the Greek word ‘Pyr’ meaning fire as it was commonly used for creating sparks when struck with iron. It has been dated back to uses in prehistoric times by archeologists.

The Roman documenter and philosopher, Pliny the Elder, refers to Pyrite as a group of stones that emit sparks when struck. Specifically one which was coloured brass, which is deemed to be the Pyrite we refer to now.

The Atzecs and Mayans also used Pyrite to craft exquisitely produced mirrors using tiny pieces of pyrite melded closely together. Many of these did not last due to the iron oxidisation within. They were situated in royal and noble tombs and temples and were said to represent noble or royal heritage.

In the 20th Century, Pyrite was used in radio receivers and is also associated with low cost photovoltaic solar panels. It was also popular in the making of marcasite jewelery.

Selenite – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/
Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Selenite refers to the crystalline varieties of gypsum that can also include gypsum flower, desert rose and satin spar.

They are formulated from calcium sulfate dihydrate which means that there are two molecules of water within. Selenite can be sourced from the rock or matrix or can also be found typically in clay beds in free form structure. They may be found with trace inclusions and fossils contained within.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Selenite crystals belong to the Monoclinic system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Gypsum was known in old english as spaerstan meaning spear stone, it is also thought to have derived from the Greek word , gypsos, meaning plaster or chalk. It was used to form plaster of paris due to its ability to harden when put through a hydrated/dehydrated process.

The name Selenite is thought to have derived from either the Greek word Lithos, the middle English term, selinete or the Latin term selenites which means stone of the moon or moonstone.

In ancient times the belief was that some of the crystals that formed transparently were waxed and connected by the moon. As Selenite is the variety of Gypsum that forms in transparent crystalline masses, it has been reffered to by this name since the 15th Century.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Hawks Eye

ae267bc3f9a4894b853a3f3e7797176a

Origin

Falcon’s eye is a blue black to blue green opaque gemstone variety of fibrous quartz. All Tiger Eye is chatoyant which derives from the French language for “cat’s eye”. In the middle ages, the Falcons Eye was worn for protection as an amulet against witchcraft, demons and the evil eye.

Some stones with a higher oxidized iron are more bluish brown colour. It is typically multi-coloured with golden stripes or wavy patterns. It is an opaque fibrous aggregate, variety of microcrystalline quartz.  It displays an iridescence that enhances its silky luster. It is a pseudo morph of quartz meaning it changed from one mineral to another over time. Falcon’s eye was once crocidolite and changed to quartz. Crocidolite is a fibrous blue mineral; from the riebeckite family of amphibole silicates. It has a distinct composition, colour and chatoyancy with a silicon dioxide composition. It has a good hardness and durability. It has lower iron content than Tigers Eye.It is always cut to maximise its chatoyancy and associated closely with Tigers Eye and Pietersite.

It is quite rare and therefore not seen in much jewellery only interesting pendants or beaded necklaces. It is often carved for ornamental purposes. Its colour makes it a popular gemstone for men’s jewellery as cuff links or tie racks.

It can be found in many locations around the world like Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Kora, Burma, Namibia, South Africa Spain and the US.

Jasper

Jasper, Red – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/
Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Jasper is a amalgam of micro quartz with other mineral phases that can include chalcedony. It is an opaque variety of silica that contains impurities which allows for the various colour forms dependant on the sediment or ash.

The common red coloured Jasper is caused bytraces of iron (lll) or hematite inclusions. Patterns can occur when the silica rich sediment or volcanic ash forms through flow and depositional occurance.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Agate crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
The term ‘Jasper’ refers to the spotting or speckled patterns on the stone and is used to denote a number of stones that are blessed with these pattern types. The documentation in history of picture jasper is unclear, as a result of this, as it is difficult to establish which Jasper type is being referenced through the ages.

There are some noted stories regarding red jasper. One story is that a segment of Red Jasper was embedded on the hilt of Balmung, the legendary sword of the Norse legend Siegfried. Another details how in 1636 the Gemmarum et Lapidum Historia noted that a woman wearing red jasper was cured from the painful chronic hemmoraging that she was inflicted with.

Red Jasper is commonly found and is used for gemstones and ornamentation.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Mookaite

Mookaite – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Mookaite is a formation mix of Jasper and Opalite that is sourced from the Australian, Mooka Creek in the Western Kennedy Ranges. It is a locally named term for a mineral that is geologically classed as a Windalia Radiolarite.

Radiolarite is a siliceous sedimantary rock that is classed as chert like, fine grained and homogeneous. It was always asserted that radiolarite was found in pelagic, deep water conditions yet they have been found to occur in sedimentary shallow limestone conditions. The sinking of the sedimentation is quite rapid and, in that process, dissolution occurs that affects the skelton formation of the mineral which can develop to chalcedony and cryptocrystalline quartz dependant on the temperature at sinking phase.

Mookaite refers to the formational pattern of the type of Radiolarite found in the Western Australian location which contains radiolara, foraminifera and calcareous nanoplankton fossils. It contains vari-coloured opaline which gives it an attractive quality for the crafting of gem stones.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Mookaite crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Mookaite is a popular gem stone in Australia. It is said that the area where sourced was once part of an ocean long receded. That ocean left an inland sea, which, when that dried, left millions of organisms of skeletal remains that absorbed iron rich minerals. This formation left this type of stone unique to the area and is around 120 million years old.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Mookaite has an opaque transparency and a vitreous to dull luster. The stone measures 7 on the Mohs Scale of hardness rating and has a splintery, conchoidal fracture.

It is fully natural, only enhanced by tumbing, cutting and polishing processes.

Moss Agate

Moss Agate – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/
Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Moss Agate is a crystal  type of Agate and is formed from silicon dioxide. The moss terminology refers to the green coloured minerals, that include metal impurities such as iron or chrome, formed within the agate that has a similar appearance and pattern of moss.

Agate is a crystal of primary formation which means it was formed from molten magma. This usualy happens in cavities in volcanoes where the combination of chemistary and structural arrangements of mineral deposits, atoms and substances pass from gas or liquid into a solid state or by means of going out of solution by precipitation or evaporation.

Agate is made up of silicon dioxide a variety of Chalcedony which is a part of the Quartz family. The intricate bands found in Agate crystals is said to be a result of saline water trapped in the gas. When it starts to cool it begins to fight the iron in the lava by pushing off the walls of its cavaties creating a rippling effect and subsequent beauty in its formation.

Although Agate crystals are often found in volcanic rocks they can also be found in many other rocks including metamorphic rocks.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Moss Agate crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Ancient myth tells the story of this interesting and unique crystal stone being found in the Achates river in Sicily which was a Greek colony at the time.

The river is now know as the Drillo River but the old Greek word ‘Agateec’ which means happy was adopted as this beautiful crystals name. A greek philosopher named Theophrastus is said to have discovered the stone between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC.

Agate is said to have been widely used in ancient Egypt and became popular throughout the middle ages in Europe. It has grown in popularity over the years mainly due to its unique and interesting desings. Agate and its diffiring variants are now widley sought throughout the world.

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Kyanite is a blue mineral of the silicate variety that is mainly sourced from aluminium rich metamorphic pegamites and also in sedimentary rock.

It occurs in schist, quartz, pegmatite and gneiss veins as the result of high pressure metamorphism of pelitic rock. In the sedimentary rocks it occurs in the form of detrital grains.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Kyanite crystals belong to the Triclinic system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
The name Kyanite is taken from the Greek word Kuanos which means deep blue.

Ancient myth tells that when Kyanite was suspended from human hair it could trace the magnetic force of the earth in a similar way to the needle of a compass. This belief  caused many travellers to carry Kyanite on long journeys or when exploring new territories.

Kyanite deposits can be found in Canada, Brazil, Austria, Zimbabwe, Switzerland and the US among others and is mined largely for industrial purposes.

The stone is used extensively in ceramic and refractory products which includes dishware and porcelain plumbing fixtures . It is also used in abrasives, electrical insulators and electronics.

Origin

Dolomite derives its name after the French mineralogist Deodat de Dolomieu. Dolomite can be found in Algeria,Brazil,Switzerland,Namibia,Spain,Great Britain,India,Mexico,Italy,Australia and in the United States.

Dolomite is a common sedimentary rock and mineral found in massive beds. It is comprised of calcium magnesium carbonate. Dolomite is also sedimentary carbonate rock which is composing primarily of mineral dolomite also known as dolostone.

Dolomite forms white, tan, grey or pink crystals. It can also occur in colourless, white, pink green, grey, brown and black colours. Its lustre is quite vitreous and pearly. Small amounts of iron in the crystal give a yellow to brown tint.

It is a double carbonate with a structure comprised of calcium and magnesium. Crystal twinning is common in dolomite.  Dolomite forms with the help of sulphate-reducing bacteria and in natural environments rich in organic matter and microbial cell surfaces.

Dolomite is used for ornamental stone, concrete aggregate, a source of magnesium oxide and Pidgeon process for the production of magnesium.  It is a vital petroleum reservoir rock. Dolomite is used in the production of float glass and in the ceramic industry as glaze for pottery. It is added to soils as a pH buffer and as a magnesium source. It is also used as the substrate in main aquariums to help buffer changes in pH of the water.

Dolomite is very similar to Calcite, to distinguish between them one must compare the hardness and acid reaction of both.

Physical

It helps to strengthen bones, teeth, muscles and the female reproductive system. It reduces the effects of PMS. Pink dolomite is good for Insomnia. Dolomite helps build the body including muscular structure and blood cells. It helps relieve chills and treating disorders associated with adrenal glands and urogenital system. It is a great support for weight loss and regulating the metabolism.

Anhydrite

Anhydrite – Gemzworld Crystals Encyclopedia

Anhydrite – This is our research and findings into this mineral, also known as Angelite

Origin – the place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.

Anhydrite is a Sulfates mineral of soft blue. Sulfides have a sulfur atom surrounded by four oxygen atoms that form a square. Aside from Gypsum and Baryte, which are the main Sulfide types, the rest are increasingly rare and that includes Anhydrite.

When Gypsum loses water it turns into Anhydrite which is usually found in salt deposits formed in blocks of course crystalline. Anhydrite is normally found as a colourless brown crystal. The pale blue version is more rare and is known as Angelite.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Angelite crystals belong to the Orthohombic system.

History – the past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.

The known history of Anhydrite is recent in times as the name was given by A.G. Werner in 1804 due to the absence of water of crystallization compared to its presence in Gypsum.

Anhydrite was first documented during the globally synchronised meditation event named the Harmonic Conversion in 1987.

Specification – the act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.

Anhydrite is only enhanced through cutting, tumbling and polishing. It is of a soft blue | white in colour and the true versions are only believed to be found in Peru encapsulating a deeper blue colour.

Varieties – a number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.

Anhydrite is formed from Sulfates of which there are around 200 types including Gypsum and Baryte.

A rare variety is Anhydrite of which the pale blue version is known as Angelite.

Aragonite

Aragonite – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Aragonite is a carbonate mineral that is a naturally occuring crystal form of calcium carbonate CaCO3. The formation occurs from both physical and biological processes which includes the precipitation from the freshwater and sea water environments.

Aragonite is a secondary formation has a different crystal lattice to calcite which is defined by its orthorhombic system with acicular crystals that is repeatedly twinned to result in pseudo-hexagonal forms. It may also be columnar or appear in stalactitic form.

Aragonite forms naturally in mollusk shells and because the mineral deposition in these shells are strongly controlled biologically, they can differ in formation to inorganic Aragonite.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Aragonite crystals belong to the Orthorhombic system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Aragonite is a recent crystal that was noted in the Spanish area of Aragon. It was named for this location in 1790.

The crystal is found globally but notably in Mexico and the Czech Republic. As well as a distinctive crystal it is also used to make soil neutralisers and cement. The formation is also vital for the replicarion of reef conditions and is used in aquariums to maintain the natural levels of the PH in the water.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Aragonite can differ in form in its natural state as repeated twinning results in pseudo-hexagonal forms. They can be columnar or fibrous and can also be found as flos-ferri which is a stalatitic form that translates to flowers of iron.

Bloodstone

6bloodstone-india-belkis4425a

Origin

Heliotrope (Bloodstone, Jasper) derives its name from the Greek word “Helios” meaning “to turn” conveying the various ancient notions about the manner in which the mineral reflects light. It has been used in carved signet rings for the traditional birthstone for March.

It was also believed that by touching the stone it could stop bleeding. Legend denotes that the bloodstone was formed from the blood of Christ dripping on the green earth and solidifying. It was thought to bring change and use as an amulet to protect against the evil eye. It is a symbol of justice. Medieval Christians used bloodstone to carve scenes of the crucifixion and martyrs. A beautiful example is the seal of the German Emperor Rudolf II which can be seen in Louvre in Paris. Finely pulverised bloodstone is still used as a medicine and aphrodisiac in India.

Bloodstone can be found in Brazil, India, China, Australia and the United States.

Heliotrope is the mineral most commonly known as bloodstone. It is a form of chalcedony which is cryptocrystalline mixture of quartz meaning it cannot be distinguished by the naked eye as the crystals are too small. It is monoclinic polymorph morganite. Bloodstone commonly appears in green chalcedony with red inclusions of iron oxide or red jasper. The inclusions cans sometimes be yellow or plasma. Heliotrope is transparent with red in it while plasma is deep green, opaque with little or no red inclusions. It appears glassy to waxy with an inconsistent colour of green derived from chlorite particles while the red inclusions are caused by iron oxide.

A good quality of bloodstone is one which has solid dark green colour and visible veins of red. The most common shapes bloodstone occurs in are cabochon, cushion cut, emerald cut, octagonal, oval and round.

Physical

It improves physical strength, health and well-being. It is used to protect the immune system .it assists with blood and energy circulation in the body and helps remove blocks. It fortifies the lymph and bladder as well as with flu, colds, infections, inflammation and pus formation. It also helps fortify the liver, spleen and intestine.

Emotional

It enhances self-esteem and self-appreciation and calms anxiety. T promotes love for family and enhances wealth by improving the business. It aids setting boundaries and helps maintain control. It helps you to feel stronger sense of determination and help you regain your personal power. It helps build courage and strength of mind. It also raises self-esteem and was believed in ancient times to help avoid dangerous situations by becoming red in colour. The vibrations help you to dissipate confusion and become more peaceful and serene.

Calcite

Calcite – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.

Calcite is a carbonate mineral of secondary formation that is common to sedimentary rocks, including limestone, yet much of which is formed from the shells of long dead marine organisms.

Calcite forms in two stages. The particles from amorphous calcium carbonate dehydrate and crystallize to appear as individual particles of vaterite in the first stage. The second stage is slower where the vaterite transforms through a dissolution and reprecipitation mechanism, into calcite.

Calcite can also be found in volcanic rocks such as kimberlites, carbonatites and rarely in peridotites.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Calcite crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Calcite comes from the Greek word Chalix which means lime. This could be linked to its common appearance in limestone rocks.

The formation is one of the most common minerals on planet earth and is estimated to make up about 4% in weight of the planet earth’s crust.

Calcite is found in many cave formations of which the majority, including stalagmites and stalactites are made from Calcite.

The crystal is found all over the world. Notable deposits include Palm Wash, California, Iceland, Mexico, Germany, Brazil, England, India and Africa.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Calcites come in many different shapes and colours. They can form obtuse to acute, tabular, prismatic and as various scalenohedra.

Single calcite can stand out for its refraction where the optical property birefringence appears and causes objects viewed through the crystal to appear doubled.

As it is a soft crystal with a Moh hardness of 3 it is rarely used as jewellery, instead it is more a collectors stone.

Chrysocolla is a crystal of secondary formation which is formed in the zones of oxidation of bodies of copper ore when the copper is dissolved out of rock by surface water containing silicic acid.

The structure of chrysocolla has been queried as some studies have indicated that the material within Chrysocolla contains chalcedony and copper hydroxide spertiniite yet it is widely specified as a hydrated copper cyclosilicate mineral.

Chrysocolla is mainly found as rounded or botryoidal crusts, masses and vein fillings.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Chrysocolla crystals belong to the Monoclinic system. PDF says Monoclinic yet wiki says Orthorhombic …confirm

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
The term Chrysocolla is derived from two Greek words; Chrys, meaning gold and kolla, meaning glue; first used in 315 BC by Theophrastus.

The descriptive term is thought to be due to the Ancient Greeks using the mineral to fuse and solder gold together.

Other stories tell that Chrysocolla was used by Native Americans as a strength to body resistance and for its healing and calming powers.

Deposits of Chrysocolla are mainly found in Israel, Chile, Russia, Peru, Mexico, Nevada, Zaire and the DR of the Congo.

Chrysocolla stones are brittle to sectile and are very soft with a Mohs scale rating of 2.5 -3.5. They are dull to vitreous and opaque to transluscent and are found with an uneven, irregular , sub-conchoidal fracture.

As Chrysocolla stones are so soft they are not often used for jewellery, instead they are a fascinating collectors stone due to their attractive colour and appearance.

Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Crysoprase is a nickel infiltrated variety of Chalcedony which is a cryptocrystalline form of silica. A cryptocrystalline crystal refers to the super fine composition of crystals that cannot be seen as distinct particles under normal magnification.

The crystal occurs due to the lateritization or deep weathering of ultramafic ophiolite rocks including nickeliferous serpentines. In some Australian formations, it can be found as nodules or veins with iron oxides, like brown geothite, below an iron and silica cap in the magnesite rich saprolite.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Chrysoprase crystals belong to the Trigonal system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
In ancient times the Chrysoprase stone was associated with the Goddess Venus and was a representation of the divinity of truth and love. It has been mentioned as far back as 2000 years ago when the Roman Scholar, Pliny, wrote about its ‘inner glow’

The stone has been popularly worn throughout the ages by the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. Popular stories tell of Cleopatra wearing Chrysoprase to keep her youth and Alexander the Great’s eleven year triumph being due to the fact he wore a Chrysoprase on his belt. In fact, when he lost it, it was said that he never won another battle and the crystal was reffered to as the victory stone.

The finest Chrysoprase is mined in Australia and other major deposits are found in Zimbabwe, India, Brazil, Russia among others.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Chrysoprase can be found in a variety of shapes and sizes and is glassy, vitreous, transparent to opaque with a rough, brittle fracture.

The clear, apple green type is the most sought however it can be found with irregular colours such as a white streak, and contain other fissures and impurities.

Chrysoprase is enhanced only through the cutting, tumbling and polishing process and is found widely in jewellery.

Varietiesa number or range of things of the same general class that are different or distinct in character or quality.
There are no significant varieties of Chrysoprase however it can be compared to Chrome Chalcedony which contains chromium, rather than nickel, to produce it’s colour.

Copper

Copper – International Crystals Encyclopedia https://www.gemzworld.com/

Originthe place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Copper is a precious metal that has a red/orange metallic luster. It is present in the earth’s crust and can be found as a polycrystal.

The majority of copper is extracted from huge open pit mines as copper sulfides, it can also be found in crystals such as chalcocite and chalcopyrite, copper carbonates like malachite and azurite and cuprite which is classed as a copper oxide. The metal can also be extracted through the in-situ leach process which involves hydraulic drilling with a leaching solution to pump the copper to the surface.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Copper belongs to the face –centered Cubic system.

Historythe past considered as a whole, the whole series of past events connected with someone or sometihing, a continuous typically chronological record of importance.
Copper has been used for over 10,000 years and has a history that can date back to the oldest civilizations. It is estimated that it was discovered in the Middle East as a pendant of copper was found in Northern Iraq that dates back to 8700 BC.

It is said that copper smelting was implemented in China around or before 2800 BC, in Central America around 600 AD and estimated at around 9th/10th AD in West Africa. A male, named when found as Otzi the Iceman, was thought to date back to 3300 BC and was discovered with a copper headed axe. His hair contained high levels of arsenic which was thought to suggest his involvement in copper smelting from that time.

Today copper is so widely used that concern has been raised over its reserves. Copper is recyclable and is used as an electricity conductor among many other things. Copper bracelets are widely used to ward off arthiritic symptoms.

Specificationthe act of describing or identifying something precisely, a detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
Copper appears alongside Silver and Gold in Group 11 of the Periodic table. It has a filled d-electron shell with a one s-orbital electron placed on top of it.

Copper is extremely soft and has a high thermal conductivity which is a factor in its extremely high electrical conductivity. It is usually fine grained in polycrystalline form and has a high ductility in single crystals.

Covellite

covellite32429b                 0b60ba639fbe047f8288b43f99fcb0f6

Origin

Covellite derives its name from its founder Nicholas Covelli who first found them in Italy. Covellite is a rare copper sulphide mineral. It is a copper based stone. The mineral is associated with chalcocite. It is commonly found with and occurs as coatings on chalcocite, chalcopyrite, bornite, enargite and pyrite.

It is commonly found as a secondary copper mineral in deposits. It forms in weathering environments near the surface in deposits where copper is the primary sulphide. It also forms as descending surface water in the supergene enrichment zone oxidizes and redeposits covellite on hypogene sulphides. Covellite has a unique crystal structure due to the conditions of its formation. It is restricted to hydrothermal conditions. It undergoes a complex oxidation process which depends on the state and history of its sulphides. Ammonium metavanadate is an important catalyst for covellites solid state transformation from other copper sulphides. It occurs as thin platy hexagonal crystals and rosettes also massive to granular.

It ranges in colour from dark blue to black with a shimmer of gold or red colour on the surface. Sometimes there are hints of a purple rose iridescence. Covellite can be found in Montana in USA, Italy, Germany, Sardinia, Wales, Alaska and Peru.

Physical

Covellite improves feeling of well-being, harmonises stress and rest and promotes ingestion, detoxification and sexuality. It heals problems with the ears, nose, mouth and sinuses. It eliminates toxins and removes dense energies.
