Chrysolite means “gold stone”. It is mentioned in the bible in the list of gemstones set in the breastplate of Aaron (Book of Exodus) and in the list of foundation stones for the New Jerusalem (in Revelation).
Chrysolite is now more commonly known as Olivine and Peridot. Translucent olivine is sometimes called peridot which is actually the French word for Olivine. Olivine can be found on the volcanic island of Zabargad in the Red Sea east of Aswan Egypt. Peridot can also be found in Burma, Pakistan, China, Vietnam and the United States. The finest quality comes from Mogok in Burma.

Dolomite is a common sedimentary rock and mineral found in massive beds. It is comprised of calcium magnesium carbonate. Dolomite is also sedimentary carbonate rock which is composing primarily of mineral dolomite also known as dolostone.

Origin – the place or situation from which something comes, the beginning of something’s existence, the point from which it starts out, the thing from which it is ultimately derived.
Aquamarine is a crystal of primary formation which means it was formed from molten magma. This usually happens in cavities in volcanoes where the combination of chemistary and structural arrangements of mineral deposits, atoms and substances pass from gas or liquid into a solid state or by means of going out of solution by precipitation or evaporation.
The crystal is formed in igneous rocks and often, granite. It can be found in other sources of sedimentary rocks like limestone or shale. Aquamarines can form larger more transparent crystals then the other Beryl varieties which are formed as hexagonal, columnar prisms.
Aquamarine is a blue or cyan variety of Beryl which is composed of beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate This is in turn, a group of the Silicate family. The Fe2+ ion is said to determine the blue colour whilst Fe3+ produces a golden yellow hue. The combination of these ions produces the darker, deep blue of the maxixe.
All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are 7 systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Aquamarine crystals belong to the Hexagonal system.

The Aquamarine was named in 1609 by Anselmus de Boodt after the Latin term aqua marina meaning water of the sea. Prior to this it was known as a sea-green Beryl.
The reference of the crystal, though goes way back to the 2nd century where it was referred to as seeming to have come from a mermaids treasure house. The Roman’s blessed the stone as it was said to join in young love and in the Middle Ages it was worn as a pendant and used as an oracle crystal.
The stones are mined globally and significant finds have occured in the US and Brazil. The largest gemstone quality aquamarine found was in 1910. It was found in brazil and weighed over 110 Kg.

The name beryl is derived from a number of languages including Latin, old French, Middle English, Greek, Prakrit, German and Dutch.
Beryl is a mineral composed of beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate. They are hexagonal crystals and rarely come in terminated form. Beryl often crystallizes in a perfect six sided hexagons, their crystals are individual prismatic hexagons. The can appear in short stubby form or tabular and plates. The bases of beryls are flat and pyramidal terminations are rare.
Pure beryl is transparent to opaque and colourless but often tinted by impurities. Green beryl heat treated can produce a sky blue aquamarine colour.
Beryl comes in various colours in granitic pegmatites but also occurs in mic schist in the Ural Mountains and limestone in Colombia.it is found in Europe Norway Austria Germany and Sweden Ireland Russia Brazil Colombia Madagascar Mozambique South Africa USA and Zambia.
Beryl has two varieties which include aquamarine, maxixe, emerald, golden beryl, yellow helidor, goshenite, pink morganite and red beryl. Pure beryl is colourless, it is the impurities which cause it to colour in variety.
Aquamarine is the second most popular gem beryl. It has a distinct greenish blue to blue colour which is caused by iron oxides within the chemical makeup of the stone. Light coloured stone in this colour range are still called aquamarine. The stone that are richly coloured are the most sought after. The pale stone are made for inexpensive jewellery.
The name Aquamarine derives from the Latin aqua marinus, meaning “water of the sea” and refers to its sparkling ocean-like colour. It was believed to be the treasure of mermaids and was used by sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection. It channels clear and heartfelt communication.

Chrysolite means “gold stone”. It is mentioned in the bible in the list of gemstones set in the breastplate of Aaron (Book of Exodus) and in the list of foundation stones for the New Jerusalem (in Revelation).
Chrysolite is now more commonly known as Olivine and Peridot. Translucent olivine is sometimes called peridot which is actually the French word for Olivine. It is one of the most common minerals in the earth. It occurs in mafic and ultra-mafic igneous rocks as a primary mineral in certain metamorphic rocks.
It is not specifically recognised as a mineral but a mineral group comprising of Forsterite and Fayalite. The ratio of magnesium and iron varies between the two. It is a type of orthosilicate. They create a solid solution series. Most specimens identified as Olivine fall into this series. Olivine’s crystal structure incorporates aspects of the orthorhombic, Bravals lattice which occur from each silica.
Olivine dates back to the Pharaohs in Egypt. It is the gem variety of the mineral Olivine. It occurs in a light green to olive green gemstone. The intensity of the colour depends on the amount of iron present. The most desirable colour is deep olive green with a slight yellowish tint.
Olivine can be found on the volcanic island of Zabargad in the Red Sea east of Aswan Egypt. Peridot can also be found in Burma, Pakistan, China, Vietnam and the United States. The finest quality comes from Mogok in Burma.

It is commonly found as a secondary copper mineral in deposits. It forms in weathering environments near the surface in deposits where copper is the primary sulphide. It also forms as descending surface water in the supergene enrichment zone oxidizes and redeposits covellite on hypogene sulphides. Covellite has a unique crystal structure due to the conditions of its formation. It is restricted to hydrothermal conditions. It undergoes a complex oxidation process which depends on the state and history of its sulphides. Ammonium metavanadate is an important catalyst for covellites solid state transformation from other copper sulphides. It occurs as thin platy hexagonal crystals and rosettes also massive to granular.
It ranges in colour from dark blue to black with a shimmer of gold or red colour on the surface. Sometimes there are hints of a purple rose iridescence. Covellite can be found in Montana in USA, Italy, Germany, Sardinia, Wales, Alaska and Peru.
