MALACHITE

Malachite is associated with the Heart Chakra. Malachite is an alkaline copper carbonate that is mainly found together with goethite, calcite and azurite. It is often formed from the weathering of copper ores and usually connected with limestones with copper deposits.

It also forms in caverns deep underground in large stalagmitic. These fibrous or botryoidal masses are where hydrothermal fluids and water tables provide the means for chemical precipitation.

All crystals belong to a different group according to the basis of the relationships of their axes. There are seven systems and 32 classes of symmetry. Malachite crystals belong to the Monoclinic system.

Malachite resembled the mallow plants by the Greeks, who named the stone for that description.

The stone has been documented at over 3000 years old by archaeological. Evidence has been found of the mineral being mined and smelted for copper in the Timna Valley in Israel at that time.

They are widely used for pigment, ornamentation and gemstones.
